The Spanish times were a quintessential point in the shift of religious beliefs in the Philippines. The influence brought by the Spanish to the Philippines is seen in how the transformed Filipino wore their Catholic faith. The Tamborine, a vessel for blessed artifacts, adorned the collars of men and women alike and have been passed down from generation to generation.

This tamborine necklace is dated between the 17th to 19th centuries, originating from Ilocos. Taking a closer look at the relicario, it holds a very detailed, masterfully handcrafted image of a floral figure within the glass window.
