Chi-rho, pronounced as “Kee-roe”, is an old Christian symbol – a Christogram formed by combining two letters of the Greek word Christos, which means “Christ.” It was employed by early Christians to symbolize both Christ and Christianity. It is attributed to Constantine I, the Roman Emperor who used it as a military symbol. And since then has been a symbol of Christ victorious over sin.
Jewelry Insider: CHI-RHO, the two Greek letters that indicate the name of Christ, are placed on the ring worn by all Maryknoll Sisters. The Chi-Rho symbol reminds us of the mission of the Maryknoll sisters to make the love of God visible to everyone we meet.
Here is a Chi-rho medal designed for the coming Centennial Year 2026 of Mayknoll-Miriam College. The pendant is made of fine sterling silver with a 14k gold symbol at the center and comes with a complimentary non-tarnish stainless steel chain. A blue sapphire accent completes the blue and gold theme.
